Tommy Paul: What Racket Does He Use?

In this blog post, we will take a look at the tennis player Tommy Paul and what racket he uses.

If you are a tennis fan, you have probably heard his name lately – and that’s because he is one of the most promising young players on the ATP tour right now.

But who is he? and what tennis racket does he use? let’s dig in!

Who is Tommy Paul?

Tommy Paul is an American tennis player who turned professional in 2015.

He was born on May 17, 1997, in Greenville, North Carolina, and so far he has won one singles title on the ATP Tour.

Right now while writing this article, his highest singles ranking is world No. 33 – but wait, he just began!

I foresee a great future for this young talented player so I bet we will see him in the Top 20 soon.

What tennis racket does Tommy Paul use?

When I first looked at Tommy’s tennis racket, I have to say I was a bit surprised because I could see very fast that he is using a Wilson racket

But his racket looked very different from all the regular Wilson rackets that other pros are using.

And that’s because Tommy Paul uses a Wilson H22 Pro Stock tennis racket.

But as you can see by the look of it, his racket doesn’t look like a standard Wilson h22 Pro Stock-

And that’s because he painted the racket to look like the colors of the North Carolina Tar Heels, which is an American college sports team that represents the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

And as you remember, from the beginning of the article, Tommy is a North Carolina native.

I think it’s pretty cool that he is using a racket with the colors of his University team!

Which other pro players use this racket?

Believe it or not – Tommy is not the only pro player on tour who plays with this tennis racket!

Another young and talented American pro player, Jenson Brooksby, is using the same racket – but his racket is repainted to look like the Wilson Blade 98.

It’s very rare to see younger players like Tommy and Jenson using an older model racket like this.

But who knows, maybe they will start a new trend! and with their achievement, they could do it.

Or maybe it’s just “a move” to let Wilson know they want them to sponsor them? Who knows. only time will tell.

But one thing is for sure – both Tommy and Jenson are very talented young players with a great future in front of them.

Why does Tommy Paul use this racket?

The reason Tommy uses this racket is unknown, but I think it could be because he feels comfortable with it.

The racket is very similar to the Wilson Blade, which is one of the most popular tennis rackets on tour.

It also reminds the HEAD Liquidmetal Radical Tours racket, so maybe he just likes the feel of it.

Or maybe he is sponsored by Wilson and they gave him this racket to use, but I’m still not sure about this because if he was sponsored by them, they probably wanted him to use one of their newest models.

What are the specs of Tommy Paul’s Wilson H22 Pro Stock racket?

The head size of the racket is 98 square inches, the length is 27 inches, and the weight (strung) is 342 grams.

The balance of the racket (strung) is 316 mm, the stiffness is 60 and the string pattern of the racket is 18 x 20.

Can I buy Tommy’s tennis racket?

Yes and no.

You can buy the Wilson H22 Pro Stock racket, but because it’s an old tennis racket, you won’t find one in the stores.

But if you want to buy it, I recommend checking out some online tennis shops or eBay.

You might be able to find someone who is selling this racket second-hand.

But if you want to have a similar feeling while using a new and modern racket, I would recommend trying out the Wilson Blade 98 18×20 which is pretty similar.

And if you want the same racket to look like Tommy’s – you can always repaint your racket!

You can purchase the Wilson Blade 98 here.

In conclusion

Tommy Paul is a young and upcoming American tennis player who was born in North Carolina.

He uses a Wilson H22 Pro Stock racket which he has painted to look like the colors of his University team – the North Carolina Tar Heels.

So far, he is the only professional player on tour who uses this old racket but maybe he will start a new trend or will change racket soon – I promise to keep following him and his racket of choice!

About Me

Hi! I’m Matt Olsen, and I’ve been playing tennis for over 10 years. Tennis is my life!

My favorite part about being a professional tennis player? Playing the game. My least favorite part of this job? Sitting on the bench after having to retire from a match because of an injury (it’s still fun watching the teammates play, though!).

One secret that helps me keep up with all my training? Choosing the best tennis racket that suits me. In fact, it’s one of the reasons why I started this site Tennis on Flame, where I help people find their perfect racket!
