Lacoste tennis rackets: Are they good?

Lacoste: Who Are They?

Lacoste is a French company that makes a wide range of products, including footwear, eyewear, clothing, leather goods, perfume, towels, and watches.

They are very famous for their crocodile logo, which can be seen in most of their products.

The company was founded in 1933 by René Lacoste, which was a very successful and famous tennis player in the 1920s.

After he retired from tennis in 1932, he started this company a year later with the entrepreneur André Gillier and began selling shirts that had the crocodile logo on them.

The company has been very successful since then, and its products are now sold in over 120 countries!

What’s the connection between Lacoste to tennis?

As we mentioned before, the company was founded by René Lacoste, who was a very successful tennis player in the 1920s.

His highest ranking was No. 1 in 1926, and he even won a bronze medal in the 1924 Paris Olympic games for playing tennis doubles.

Because of how he fought with his adversaries, he was called “the Crocodile”, which explained the crocodile logo on his products.

The brand has always been associated with tennis, and many of today’s pro tennis players are sponsored by Lacoste-

Some of the players that can be seen wearing Lacoste on the court are:

Novak Djokovic, Martina Navratilova, Daniil Medvedev, Roberto Bautista Agut, Nicolas Mahut, Anett Kontaveit, Marc Polmans, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, and many more.

Are Lacoste tennis rackets good?

Now that we know a bit more about the company, let’s take a look at their tennis rackets.

Well, the readers who read this article can be divided into two groups:

One group came here to read what I think about Lacoste tennis rackets, while the second group came here by accident while reading other articles on my Tennis On Flame website, don’t know Lacoste has tennis rackets.

And I can’t blame the second group: I mean, when you think about Lacoste, “tennis rackets” are not the first thing that comes to your mind, right?

But the fact is that Lacoste does make a tennis racket, and is not too bad!

The main model is called Lacoste L20 and they created it with Tecnifibre – If you don’t know, in 2017 they acquired so it was a pretty big move.

Tecnifibre is a French company too and they make good quality tennis rackets (I’m currently using one of their strings).

Lacoste doesn’t have a wide catalog of tennis rackets, and it seems to me that it was only a one-time adventure for checking the waters, and Tecnifibre keeps the production of their rackets separately.

After I put my hands on the L20 I think this racket is very good for beginners or for or for people that want to have a light and maneuverable racket, but with a good-sized sweet spot.

Another cool benefit of this racket is the design – it will be hard for people to ignore you on the court with this racket and the crocodile logo:

And this one is a real tennis racket, not like the Chanel tennis racket.

The L20 racket has a large sweet spot and it’s very easy to play and swing with it. however, If you are an advanced player, you might find it too light and not controllable enough.

In case, I would recommend you to check other tennis rackets, it can be Tecnifibre or others like Wilson or Head.

Who makes Lacoste tennis rackets?

Lacoste tennis rackets are made by a French company called Tecnifibre.

Lacoste and Tecnifibre are now partners thanks to Lacoste’s acquisition of Tecnifibre in 2017.

Tecnifibre is a very well-known and respected company when it comes to tennis rackets, and they make some great products.

Who owns Lacoste?

The company is currently owned by a Swiss holding company called Maus Frères.

Besides Lacoste and Tecnifibre, Maus Frères also owns other brands such as Aigle, Gant, The Kooples, and other brands in Switzerland.

Is Lacoste a good brand?

Lacoste is a very good brand, and they make high-quality products.

They have a really good name when it comes to clothing and other fashion items, but they are not as well-known when it comes to tennis rackets.

But after trying Lacoste’s tennis rackets I can say they are of good quality.

I would recommend them to beginners or intermediate players who are looking for an easy-to-use racket with a large sweet spot.

Anyway, if Lacoste wants to be very big in the tennis racket market, they need to make more models and have a wider catalog.

Right now it seems like they are only testing the waters with one model, but only time will tell if they decide to fully commit to the tennis racket market.

Even with a famous name like they have, they still have a lot of competition to face against the likes of Wilson, Head, and Babolat.

Where can I buy Lacoste tennis rackets?

If you are interested in buying a Lacoste tennis racket, you can find them on Amazon or other online retailers.

They are not very easy to find in physical stores, but hopefully, that will change if they decide to make more models and commit to the tennis racket market.

In conclusion

Lacoste makes a good quality tennis racket that is perfect for beginners or intermediate players.

If you are looking for an easy-to-use racket with a large sweet spot, then the Lacoste L20 is a great option.

However, if you are an advanced player, you might find it too light and not controllable enough.

Lacoste is a good brand, but they need to make more models and have a wider catalog if they want to compete with other tennis racket brands like Wilson, Head, and Babolat.

But who knows? maybe they will surprise us and become a big player in the tennis racket market.

Only time will tell!

About Me

Hi! I’m Matt Olsen, and I’ve been playing tennis for over 10 years. Tennis is my life!

My favorite part about being a professional tennis player? Playing the game. My least favorite part of this job? Sitting on the bench after having to retire from a match because of an injury (it’s still fun watching the teammates play, though!).

One secret that helps me keep up with all my training? Choosing the best tennis racket that suits me. In fact, it’s one of the reasons why I started this site Tennis on Flame, where I help people find their perfect racket!
