However, the weight of a racket can vary depending on the type of racket and the playing level.

For example, beginner’s rackets tend to be lighter (level 3 or less, weights 10 oz).

Advanced rackets,(level 4.5 and more, weights 11 oz), tend to be heavier.

How to add weight to a tennis racket?

Does a heavier tennis racket give you more power?

A heavier tennis racket might help you generate more power.

However, it is important to keep in mind that the weight of the racket is not the only factor that contributes to your power.

The weight, balance, and head size of the racket all play a role in how powerful your shots are.

Adding weight to your racket can be a great way to increase your power.

Just make sure that you don’t add too much weight, as this can negatively affect your game.

Can you add weight to a tennis racket?

Yes, you can, but it’s important to know and to be aware that adding too much weight, will affect the balance of the racket.

How to add weight to a tennis racket?

There are several ways that you can add weight to a tennis racket:

-The best way to add more weight to your racket is by adding lead tape to the inside of the racket’s throat.

One inch of lead tape weighs approximately 1.8-2 grams.

This will assist in raising the racket’s mass without affecting the swingweight.

-Another way to add weight to your tennis racket is by using tungsten tape.

Tungsten is most typical long, thin, and rolled metal, and just like lead tape, can be applied to the inside of the racket’s throat.

The average thickness of tungsten tape can range from 0.003″ to 2mm

This will make your racket heavier than lead tape, but it will also increase swingweight.

Tungsten tape is more expensive than lead tape, but it is also more durable.

If you decide to use tungsten tape, make sure that you apply it evenly around the inside of the throat so that the racket maintains its balance.

-You can also add weight to a tennis racket by using a replacement grip.

A replacement grip is a thick and long-lasting wrap placed over the hard surface of your racquet’s handle.

These grips usually weigh around 8-10 grams (leather grip adds at least 10g) more than a standard grip.

-You can also use an overgrip on top of the grip.

The overgrip is generally a thinner material that covers the original grip or even a replacement grip.

Adding an overgrip will add 5-6 grams to the tennis racket.

Some tennis players add two or even three overgrip on top of their grips for more weight.

Is a heavier racquet better?

It depends on your playing style. If you have a more aggressive playing style, then a heavier racket might be better for you.

Heavier rackets also tend to offer more power and stability.

On the other hand, lighter rackets are often more maneuverable.

It comes down to preference and what works best for your game.

Experiment with different weight rackets to see what works best for you.

Why do pros use heavy racquets?

The main reason that pros can hit the ball so hard without swinging their racquets at breakneck speeds is because of their higher swing weights.

Skill and practice matter, but their additional weight on their rackets, and mainly their racket frame helps to propel their balls at considerably faster speeds.

How heavy is Nadal’s racket?

Nadal’s racket weighs 340 grams.

This includes the racket weight strung, the dampener, and the overgrip.

Nadal’s racket is on the heavier side, which helps him generate more power.

How heavy is Federer’s racquet?

Federer’s racket weighs 354 grams (12.5 ounces).

This includes the racket weight strung, the dampener, and the overgrip.

Federer’s racket is on the heavier plus side.

What are the changes that have been made to Novak Djokovic’s racket weight?

Novak Djokovic’s racket swing weight has been changed from 370 grams to 360 grams, static weight has been changed from 359 grams to 353 grams.

Novak Djokovic’s racket is on the heavier plus side.

In conclusion:

There are several ways that you can add weight to your tennis racket, including lead tape, tungsten tape, or a replacement grip.

About Me

Hi! I’m Matt Olsen, and I’ve been playing tennis for over 10 years. Tennis is my life!

My favorite part about being a professional tennis player? Playing the game. My least favorite part of this job? Sitting on the bench after having to retire from a match because of an injury (it’s still fun watching the teammates play, though!).

One secret that helps me keep up with all my training? Choosing the best tennis racket that suits me. In fact, it’s one of the reasons why I started this site Tennis on Flame, where I help people find their perfect racket!
