These programs are designed to help promising young players with the costs associated with being a professional athlete.

Players outside the Top 100 are probably paying for their tennis rackets, but they get very good discounts from the big brands – and if they are really good and it seems they have potential, they get sponsorship.

Some of them get are likely to get a sponsorship but from small rackets brands like Donnay or ProKennex.

When they start to be bigger, the big brands will offer them a much more interesting contract, with better terms and money.

So, while the top players in tennis may get free rackets from their sponsors, not all pros are so lucky.

For many players, especially those outside the top ranks, tennis can be a very expensive sport to pursue.

But with the right sponsorships in place, it can also be a very lucrative one.

The higher-ranked players tend to get free rackets from their sponsors, while the lower-ranked players usually have to pay for their own equipment.

Anyway, they still need to pay for someone to string their rackets before every match.

Stringing a racket costs around 20 euros and most players use the on-site stringers provided by the tournament.

However, some of the higher-ranked players, like Roger Federer, have their own personal stringer who travel with Federer to every tournament.

How often do pro tennis players get new rackets?

It really varies from player to player.

Some players, like Rafael Nadal, are very particular about their equipment and only use a new racket if it’s absolutely necessary.

Other players, like Roger Federer, tend to switch out their rackets more often.

Federer usually gets a new batch of rackets every few months, while Nadal might only get a new one once or twice a year.

Some players donate their old rackets to charity. many others sell only the old sticks and the rest donate to charities.

And there are many other players who simply keep them as souvenirs.

But they have so many tennis rackets of the same kind, so they probably donate them all and only save one for themself.

For us, it looks like the players use the same racket all the time – but the truth is that they are coming to each match with a bag full of freshly strung rackets.

They will use a different racket for every set and will change rackets whenever they feel the need to.

Thanks to that, they always use a new racket that helps them to play the best they can be.

Of course, they have their favorite racket that they feel most comfortable with and will often use that one for the important points in a match.

But even the best players in the world will use a new racket every now and then, just to keep things fresh.

How many rackets does a top tennis player go through each year?

It really varies from player to player, and depends on their temper as well, because many of them break tennis rackets for different reasons – some from the power of a shot or some from anger.

But I will say the average is probably around 30-70 rackets per year for a player.

Some players, like Roger Federer, use around 50 to 60 tennis rackets for a year.

But Federer is a very calm player – and it’s not the case with any professional players.

Goran Ivanisevic for example used to switch more than 100 rackets in one year – while Andy Roddick changed 600 per year!

On another hand, there are players like Boric Becker who changed very few rackets during a year so again, it really depends on the player.

Why do some top tennis players slam and destroy their rackets?

It’s really a mix of things.

For some players, it’s simply a matter of frustration and they’ll often break their racket when they’re angry or upset with themselves.

And honestly? I can’t blame them, it can be a very frustrating sport.

Other players do it as a way to release tension and nerves before an important match.

And then there are some players who just enjoy the feeling of smashing a racket – like a rockstar!

Whatever the reason, it’s definitely not because they can’t afford to buy a new one.

In fact, most players are sponsored by companies like Wilson or Head, who provide them with free rackets.

One time, I broke a racket after a match because I was so angry. but I didn’t get a new one for free because, you know, I’m not a pro and I don’t have a sponsor 😉

So next time you see a player destroying their racket on TV, don’t feel too bad for them – they’re probably just letting off some steam and they will get a new one for free.

Do all pro tennis players have sponsors?

No, not all of them.
